Matter of M-G-P, A#732 (IJ May 15, 2023) (Laredo, TX) (IJ Canales) In this case a Cuban Citizen claimed she suffered past persecution on account of her political opinion. The respondent alleged that she was beaten in custody, she was unlawfully detained, and she testified that Cuban Police officers searched and sized her property unlawfully. Furthermore, she suspected her partner at the time was murder by Cuban Police Officers. The IJ GRANTED Asylum to the respondent.


Matter of O-H-C, A#580 (IJ May 24, 2023) (Laredo, TX) (IJ Canales) The Court had to answer if the respondent was eligible for adjustment of status under the Cuban Adjustment Act. The IJ rejected the respondent was paroled under INA 212(d)(5)(A)(i). Our office filed an Interlocutory Appeal to the Board, but the Board did not entertained our request on the grounds it was premature and order us to wait until the removal proceedings were final. The Individual hearing took two days and finally the IJ GRANTED asylum to the respondent.
